Week 8: Diversity and Inclusion

As an educator my role within the classroom is to facilitate an environment for all students to do their best learning. Teachers will use resources and lessons that encourage equity, inclusion, and diversity. In my classroom students will see themselves represented in our resources and lesson plans. We will incorporate weekly check-ins to promote a sense of belonging and to ensure that students have an over all feeling of safety, securing and acceptance. AGENTS FOR CHANGE WITHIN THE CLASSROOM

How to promote inclusion and diversity within the classroom: - reflect the students through:

- books - pretend play/dolls - celebrations

- festivals

- traditions

- food - discussion - use inclusive language - Mommies, daddies, guardians - step-parents/relationships - LGBTQ2+

- design the classroom to meet all needs * Remember that what helps one can help many!
